Clean-Up Days

The City of Walker Department of Public Works hosts Cleanup Days, an annual event held the first weekend of May. This event allows residents to drop off misc. household items, leaves/brush, old tires and more to be disposed of (proof of residency required).

Location

Drop off is located behind City Hall in our Department of Public Works yard as illustrated below. A sign will be posted along Remembrance Rd. NW indicating where to go.

What costs can residents expect to pay? 

Waste and brush disposal can get expensive fast. In an effort to keep costs low, the City of Walker provides these services at discounted rates compared to other local waste facilities and service providers.

What items can residents drop off?

  • Wood, brush, leaves and grass clippings (must be loose or in recyclable paper bags)
  • Scrap metals
  • Mattresses
  • Old doors, windows and furniture
  • Small household appliances (toaster, blender, air fryer, etc.)
  • Large appliances (refrigerator coolant must be removed with a certificate)
  • Landscaping materials such as pavers, stone and brick
  • Untreated lumber, decking and fencing
 
 
  • Needles, syringes, lancets, epi-pens, or medical sharps
  • Prescriptions, OTC medications, vitamins, ointments etc.
  • Household chemicals
  • Auto fluids and other hazardous waste
  • Oil-based paints and stains
  • Solvents
  • Aerosols (spray paint, inhalers, etc.)
  • Pesticides, fertilizers, mercury thermostats/thermometers
  • Lithium/cadmium batteries
  • TVs and computer monitors
