Cartoon man holding paper application Opens in new windowPoll workers are the unsung heroes of our electoral system, and there is an ongoing need for these essential volunteers. Signing up to be a poll worker is a great way to help Americans vote in elections this year.

Voter Registration Requirements:

You must be registered to vote in Michigan to work on Election Day.

Hours and Compensation
       Election Day:

  • Start Time: 6:00 - 6:15 am.
  • End Time: Approximately 9:30 pm.
  • Compensation: $200 - $350 for Election Day. 
  • You must work the whole day.

    Early Voting:

  • Start Time: 7:15 am.
  • End Time: Approximately 4:30 pm.
  • Compensation: $13.33- $23.33 per hour.

Election Training Rates:

  • $15 - $45 per training (rates are dependent on training type)

Work Requirements:

  • Minimum Age: 16
  • You must attend a training session.
  • Training Details: Poll workers are required to attend county training at least once every two years. Additional training classes are dependent on the roles you wish to play on election day.
