Mayor Gary Carey, Jr.

Welcome to my City of Walker profile page. I am currently serving my second and last term as Mayor, a role I have held since January of 2019. Previously, I represented the 2nd Ward as a City Commissioner from January 2013 until I assumed the role of Mayor.

In addition to being Mayor, I currently serve the Walker community in the following committee and board roles:

Finance Committee - Chairperson 
Personnel Committee - Chairperson
Emergency Planning Committee
Grand Valley Metro Council – Board Member & Chairperson
Interurban Transit Partnership (The RAPID) – Board Member & Chairperson
John Ball Zoo - Board of Directors

Throughout my 30+ year business career, I have held sales leadership roles at larger, privately held, and Fortune 500 companies. In addition to my role as mayor and business career, I have also previously served as a high school football coach for both Kenowa Hills and West Catholic. I have an Associate’s Degree from Grand Rapids Community College and a Bachelor of Science with an emphasis in Leadership from Grand Valley State University. My wife, Cori, and I have three adult children; two of them are in law enforcement in the area, and one is a dentist practicing in Walker.
