[ARCHIVED] Kinney Avenue Reconstruction

Man surveying potential construction site

Kinney Avenue Reconstruction Continues

The City of Walker is planning to improve Kinney Avenue from Lake Michigan Drive to Leonard Street. These improvements include reconstructing the road to have three lanes, installing curb and gutter, replace the roadside ditches with storm sewer, and adding sidewalk on the east side of Kinney avenue. The project is funded, in large part, with a state grant that will allow for the enhancement during the 2024 construction season.

Before the work can begin, Prein & Newhof will be surveying the project area. It's anticipated the surveyors will be in neighborhoods along that stretch to gather existing topographical data later this fall.

The City tentatively plans on hosting an Open House later in spring of 2023. This will be a great forum to allow for public comment on the potential project. Mailings will be sent to residents in that area advertising the session, along with social media messages once a date and time is finalized.
