[ARCHIVED] Bristol Bridge Project Update

Construction zone with nearly finished bridge in background and plie of loose stone on the road.

These next two weeks will be very busy on the Bristol Bridge project. The construction crews will install the last few concrete sections on Thursday, September 5. They hope to do a significant cleanup on Friday, including removing their work trailer and excess supplies.

Crews will install the first asphalt layer in the roadway on either Saturday, September 7 or Monday, September 9. On Monday, a railroad subcontractor will arrive to begin placing the new stone ballast and railroad ties over the bridge. The railroad work will take approximately three weeks to complete. Concurrent with this work over the top of the bridge, Kamminga and Roodvoets will raise manhole castings to final grade, pave driveways, and install topsoil in the parkways.

Final paving is currently scheduled for Saturday, September 14. Roadway striping and signage will follow on September 16 and 17. If the weather cooperates, Bristol could open on September 18!!

The City of Walker is also trying to coordinate painting the brick and ledge stone patterns. Unfortunately, the concrete must be cured for 21 days before applying the stain. This may result in a future lane closure after the opening in about two weeks. Stay tuned for final details on this portion.

As a reminder, only heavy truck traffic is allowed to use the Pannell bypass. Drivers who continue to enter the zone without authorization will be ticketed.
