The Standale Downtown Development Authority (DDA) is planning to upgrade all the street lighting in the Standale Business District. This plan will include removing 30-year-old lights along Lake Michigan Drive (M-45) and replacing them with a more modern lighting system focused on lighting the sidewalk. The new lights will be set up for flower baskets and banners to facilitate different themes throughout the year. They will also be set up to allow for special holiday lighting. New lighting will be placed along Wilson Avenue (M-11) in front of the Meijer and Westown Apartments.
Work is expected to begin on Monday, June 17. The first phase will start on the east side of Wilson, south of Lake Michigan Dr, before switching to the west side of Wilson. The contractor is authorized to use lane closures to perform the work between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Work may occur behind the sidewalk outside of these hours. This entire project will take us into the fall of 2024.
