Walker City Commission to Fill Vacated Seat
The Walker City Commission is looking to fill the seat vacated by Commissioner Marvin Raap. Mr. Raap resigned this week due to scheduling conflicts with his increasingly demanding work load as full-time paramedic.
Mr. Raap was elected to represent Walker's 1st Ward in November of 2020. The City of Walker extends its gratitude to Commissioner Raap for his service to the community during the past six months.
To be eligible for appointment to this seat on the Walker City Commission, interested applicants must be:
- A registered elector in the 1st Ward of the City of Walker; and
- A City of Walker resident for at least one year.
Those interested may apply through one of two ways: by submitting an application through the Boards and Committee link on the City's website, or by sending a letter of interest and a resume to: Sarah Bydalek, Walker City Clerk, 4243 Remembrance Road N.W., Walker, Michigan 49534.
Applications must be submitted in person or electronically to the City Clerk by 5:00 pm on June 15. Interviews will be conducted the evening of Monday, June 21, with discussion and a planned motion to appoint the new commissioner at the Commission Work Session at 6:30 pm.
Official swearing in will take place on Monday, June 28 at the City Commission Meeting.
