Kent County Department of Public Work’s SafeHomes program is a FREE and responsible way for all residents to dispose of unwanted, expired, non-functional items throughout their homes. The SafeHomes program covers
- SafeMeds: Don’t let your meds get into the wrong hands! KCDPW has partnered with local pharmacies and law enforcement offices to offer drop-off sites for prescriptions, over-the-counter medications, vitamins, pet meds, etc.
- SafeSharps: Don’t harm others – safely dispose of your sharps! We’ve collaborated with Kent County Health Department’s clinics to hand-out FREE sharps containers for needles, auto injectors, lancets, syringes, etc.
- SafeChem: Going through your basement, garage, or shed this spring? Be sure to set aside any dangerous household chemicals for safe and sustainable disposal at any of our four drop-off sites.
- Electronics: We all have a few broken appliances around the house—free up some space by dropping them off. **Note: there is a disposal fee for some appliances; see SafeHomes Guide for more information.
