Commissioner Sandra Howland

howlandpicture Sandra Howland was appointed to fill a vacancy in the 3rd Ward in 2013.  Sandra grew up in Walker and has had the privilege of watching the city grow from a few neighborhoods to the thriving city it is today.  Her home is in South Walker where she has lived for 10 years. Sandra brings a wealth of business experience and an active level of community involvement to her new position as a City Commissioner. 
 Commissioner Howland has served on the Zoning Board of Appeals since 2009 and will continue to serve on that board as the City Commissioner.  In addition, she will be serving on the Personnel Committee, Youth Committee, and as the Board Liaison for the Kent District Library.  She is passionate about helping our police and firefighters secure state of the art technology and modern equipment to perform their jobs.
 Sandra is the President of Office Cleaning Services in Walker and is a member of the Standale Baptist Church where she serves on the Property and Finance Committee.  Sandra is also a volunteer for the Salvation Army’s Emergency Disaster Services and J’s Journey.

Sandra looks forward to meeting the citizens of Walker as well as performing her duties as your City Commissioner.  She encourages active participation in local government and will be there to walk along side you as you consider volunteering for our great city.
Commissioner Howland has two sons – Brian and Jason – and enjoys visiting them in Hawaii and Texas.  She also enjoys traveling, playing golf and volunteering her time for worthy causes.
