On behalf of the City of Walker, welcome to our great city and thank you for visiting my profile.
With our previous Mayor Mark Huizenga’s election to the State House of Representatives in 2018, it created a vacancy in the Mayor’s office. By our City Charter the Mayor Pro-Tem is appointed to fill the Mayors role, which I will be doing through 2022. Prior to this, I have represented the Second Ward of Walker as a City Commissioner since January of 2013.
Our family first moved to Walker in 1998, and have since then resided at 2068 Deerfield NW. I have been married to my wife Cori since 1990. We have three adult children: Alex, Brenden, and Caitlin. Alex and Caitlin are both police officers for local departments, while Brenden is finishing Dental School at the University of Detroit Mercy. We are also members of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church here on the west side.
I have also served in numerous roles with the Kenowa Hills School District. Some of my involvements include serving as a High School Football Coach, Education Foundation President and Trustee, and multiple Facilities and Bond Committees.
My professional career is serving as the Michigan Market Leader for Gibson Insurance. Gibson is an employee owned company that focuses on providing counsel and advice on complex business and people issues. Prior to Gibson, I have spent most of my career in leadership roles with larger private and publicly held companies.
In addition to serving as Mayor, I represent the Walker community in the following committee or board roles:
- Finance Committee
- Personnel Committee
- Emergency Planning Committee
- Police/Fire Committee
- Grand Valley Metro Council
- Interurban Transit Partnership (The RAPID) Board of Directors
