Sometime in January or early February of 2021, you should receive your annual Assessment Change Notice in the mail, showing you our estimate of value for your property for the year. Every year, you as the home owner or property owner have the right to appeal your value. March Board of Review (MBOR) is the time of year to make those appeals. You simply call our main phone # at (616) 791-6862 and schedule an appointment before the MBOR. You will be scheduled a 15 minute appointment to sit before the MBOR to plead your case. To be successful at your appeal, it is best to bring supporting documentation with you: recent appraisal, recent sale, list of sales of similar homes in your area, list of items (and photos) of items in your home that could use a little TLC, etc. Anything that you feel will help you with your appeal. For our 2021 MBOR, the following are our appeal dates and times:
- Monday, March 8, 2021 - 9:00 AM to noon and 1:30 PM to 4:30 PM
- Tuesday, March 9, 2021 - 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM
If these two dates should fill up, then we will add a third day. You are also allowed to appeal by letter and it should be in our office no later than Tuesday, March 9, 2021 - those should be addressed to: March Board of Review - Assessors Office - 4243 Remembrance Rd NW - Walker, MI 49534.
